Puran Poli is a favourite and famous dish available in different varieties, but Puran Poli gets more popularity among people because of its delicious and sweetened puran stuffing. It is thin wheat flour poli or roti’s that include a puran stuffing in the centre. Puran is made by using a combination of boiled crushed chana dal. Let’s Start Making Puran Poli
Step 1: Wash Chana dal twice and boil it carefully. Once the dal gets cooked, drain the water and grind it.
Next, Take a pan and add the 1 1/2 cups grated jaggery, 1/4 teaspoon of green cardamom powder, a pinch of nutmeg powder, a small pinch of saffron, and Chane dal. Mix them well.
Step 2: Now Cook the mixer until dry. Once ready, Remove the lid and keep aside to cool. You can divide this stuffing into 16 to 20 equal portions. Roll the pieces into balls
Step 3: After that, take a bowl and mix 1 1/2 cups of refined maida with a pinch of salt. You can add three tablespoon ghee and water for making a smooth dough.Cover it by using a pure damp cloth. Keep it aside for 1 hour.
Step 4: Divide the dough into 16 to 20 equal parts and roll them into balls. You can flatten every ball by using your palm. Now stuff it with a puran (Which we made earlier ) stuffing before sealing and cover its edges.
Step 5: Dust the ball by using flour and properly roll out them into 4 to 5 inches of diameter disk of average thickness. You can heat the tawa and cook puran poli. Wait until it cooks well.
Step 6: Remove the puran poli and take them on a plate. You can serve puran poli with cold milk and pure ghee.
What you need to make Puran poli
- Bengal gram – 1 1/4 cups (Chana Dal)
- 1 1/2 cups of grated jaggery (कसा हुआ गुड़)
- A small pinch of saffron (केसर)
- 1/4 teaspoon of green cardamom powder (इलायची)
- A pinch of nutmeg powder (जायफल)
Ingredients for preparing dough
- 1 1/2 cups of refined maida flour ( VERY FINELY GROUNDED WHEAT FLOUR )
- Pinch of salt (नमक)
- 1/2 cup of pure ghee (Clarified butter made from the milk of a buffalo or cow)
