Masala Puri Recipe
Chaat is one of the tastiest street foods that are enjoyed by everyone. Well, everyone loves eating street food. It’s tastier when you make them at your home. Yes, Masala Puri is one of the easiest chaat recipes that can be prepared by you at home.This can be served as a chaat and also as a starter dish. So, below is the recipe of Masala Puri.

Ingredients For Ragda
- Dried white peas- 3-4 cups
- Onion- 1 medium sized
- Tomato- 1
- Green chilies- finely chopped
- Ginger- 1 inch piece
- Garlic- 3 cloves
- Salt- to taste
- Oil- 1 tablespoon
For Masala Puri
- Crush pooris – 7- 8 for a plate
- Chaat masala- 1 teaspoon
- Chilli powder- to taste
- Cumin powder- I teaspoon
- Green Chutney- 2 tsp
- Sweet Chutney- 1 tsp
- Very finely chopped onions
- Coriander leaves finely chopped
- Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
- Chilli powder – 1-2 tsp
- Coriander powder -2 tsp
- Cumin powder/jeera powder – 1/2 tsp
- Kitchen King masala -1 1/2 tsp
Process of Making Masala Puri
Wash and soak the peas overnight or for about 5 to 6 hours in enough water.
In the pressure cooker add the soaked peas and a pinch of turmeric powder, 1-crushed garlic, ½ tablespoon chili powder and salt if needed.After the peas are soft enough leave them to be cool.
Grind half of the cooked peas into a paste and keep that aside. For the second paste heat, the pan add oil, 1 finely chopped onions, 3 Chopped cloves garlic and 1 inch piece chopped ginger.
Saute until the onions become light brown in color. Add a pinch of salt and sauté until the mixture becomes evenly brown. Add chopped green chilies and sauté.
Add tomatoes to the pan and mix until the tomatoes become mushy. Switch off the flame and keep the mixture aside to cool.
In another pan, heat oil.Add cumin seeds, when it crackles add the onion tomato mixture and sauté nicely for about 5 minutes.
Add all the spices powder and mix well. Add the peas paste and d sauté for few more minutes.
Then after this mixture is mixed properly and evenly, add the left over half peas along with water.
If you feel the mixture has become hard you can add 1 or ½ cup of water more to the paste. Remember the paste has to be a tat bit watery. This is also known as Ragda.
For Masala Poori
Crush the puris in a plate.
Add the Ragda on the plate, about 5 to 6 tablespoons.
Sprinkle chat masala, and add green chutney, and sweet chutney to the chat.You can sprinkle chopped coriander leaves and is ready to serve.
Tips and Variations
1.) You can also add Sev on top of the Masala puri
2.) You can also use green peas as well instead of the white ones.
