Gajar Ka Halwa Recipe

So today we are ging to learn an easy yet mouth watering recipe for Gajar ka halwa. Because be it kids or adults, who doesn’t love gajar halwa? So take out your pots and pans and get ready to cook up an evergreen, all loving gajar halwa.

Now we have two methods to make a gajar halwa one along with khoya while the other with milk. Let’s begin with khoya!First, we will see.

Ingredients for gajar ka halwa using khoya 

  1. grated carrot 3 cups
  2. melted ghee 1/4 cup
  3. Sugar 5 tbsp
  4. crumbled Mawa 1/2 cup  (khoya)
  5. cardamom 1/2 tsp (Elaichi) powder

FOR GARNISH: 2 tbsp almond (badam) slivers

Process of making Gajar ka halwa using Khoya

Step 1

The most important ingredient, our carrots need to be washed and peeled first. Then we need to grate all the carrots.

Step 2

Then we need to take out our pans, it’s time for the addition of ghee to our pan! take a non stick kadhai and add ghee to it and heat the ghee

Step 3

Next comes the carrots, add the carrots to the heated ghee in the kadhai and we need to cook it for 6-8 minutes on a medium flame, not forgetting to stir continuously

Step 4

It’s time for the ever sweet sugar now, add it to the ever brimming kadhai and keep stirring it continuously , for about 2 minutes on a medium flame again.

Step 5

Now add the khoya(mava) in the kadhai and mix very well, still keeping it on a medium flame keep stirring it for another 3 minutes

Step 6

Now our ever Indian Elaichi gets its justified turn! Add Elaichi to the kadhai and mix well. Just garnish the halwa with almond silvers and its ready to serve or store it in an air tight vessel until you are ready to serve

  1. 3 cups grated carrot
  2. 1/4 cup melted ghee
  3. 5 tbsp sugar
  4. ½ litre or 2 cups full fat milk

Process of making Gajar ka halwa using milk

Step 1

The most important ingredient, our carrots need to be washed and peeled first. Then we need to grate all the carrots.

Step 2

Take a kadhai and add milk to it, heat the milk on a medium flame unless it boils

Step 3

Now add the grated carrots and stir, keep it on a medium flame and keep stirring it until all the milk evaporates. Next up is sugar, add sugar and keep stirring it on a medium flame.Keep stirring till all the moisture released by sugar evaporates

Step 4

Now our ever Indian Elaichi gets its justified turn! Add Elaichi to the kadhai and mix well. Just garnish the halwa with almond silvers and its ready to serve or store it in an airtight vessel until you are ready to serve.

And that’s about it; you have your Gajar halwa ready to eat. If you want you can always roast some nuts separately and add them for garnishing. Happy deserting!
