Ingredients for Cabbage Fry
- Cabbage: ½ or full (finely chopped)
- Green peas: 50 grams
- Onion: 1 medium sized (finely chopped)
- Oil: 1 tablespoon
- Cumin seeds: 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder: 2 teaspoons
- Asafetida: a pinch
- Red chili powder: 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder: ½ teaspoon
- Garam masala: 1 teaspoon
- Salt: 1 teaspoon (or to taste)
Process of cooking Cabbage fry
Take ½ cabbage and finely chop it into small pieces.Now wash the cabbage nicely. This will remove the dirt of the cabbage.
After washing the cabbage, using a drainer, let the excess water flow away and keep the cabbage into a bowl.
Now take about 50 grams of green peas and peel them off.Finely chop one medium sized onion, and four green chilies.Heat oil in a pan on medium flame.Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds into it.
Once it starts to crackle, add a pinch of asafetida, two teaspoon of coriander powder, 1 teaspoon of red chili powder, one teaspoon of garam masala, ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder and one teaspoon salt.
After a few seconds of stir to the spices, add green peas, and finely chopped onions into the pan.Sauté well for about 2 minutes. The onions will change its color to light brown or golden brown.
After the onions and spices are fried, add the chopped cabbage into the pan.Stir the ingredients well for about 5 to 10 minutes.Eventually, the vegetable will no more look fuller, and the cabbage will be completely fired.

Tips and Variations
- You can also add finely chopped carrots also into the cabbage fry just to provide a variation to the dish.
- Instead of using garam masala you can also try using sambhar masala.
- In order provide a slight different variation to the fry, you can also use moong dal into the dish.
- For that you need to take ½ cup of clean moong dal and wash it thoroughly.
- Then in the beginning, before you put cumin side fry moong dal. The rest process remains the same.
- You can also add khatai in cabbage fry to provide the dish a different taste.
